3.1 Engage in Storytelling

Your trainer has assigned you to a group (see News and Announcements). Meet with your group (date in News and Announcements). For discussion, use the online-meeting room that your trainer has assigned to you.

Warm-up by explaining to the rest of the group what kind of rules exist in your discipline on author sequence.
Take turns! Discuss the different forms.

Imagine now you are a group of researchers in an interdisciplinary project. You just got cutting edge results from your first three work packages. You are celebrating and decide to communicate these findings and publish your work.

Write a short story starting with this sentence: „Even from far away, everyone could see that the group was a motley bunch of researchers celebrating something.“

Include 3 of the following topics in your story:
  • responsibility for the content
  • significant contribution
  • timely, open, transparent and accurate communication
  • sequence of authorship
  • disclosure of conflicts of interest
  • acknowledgement of the important work and intellectual contributions of others
  • consideration and validation of negative or non-significant results

Submit your story (10 to 20 sentences) in the forum below (subject: Academic writing_group name).
