3.1 Engage in storytelling

Your trainer has assigned you to a group (see News and Announcements). Meet with your group (date in News and Announcements). For discussion, use the online-meeting room that your trainer has assigned to you.

1. Imagine the LONA Science Centre story continues as follows:
Mr Liebling, the class teacher, starts a project week with his students called “Research Integrity” to analyse what happened at the research institution that some of his students had visited. He wants his students to understand why such incidents do not conform to the guidelines of good research.

2. Imagine you are the students of Mr Liebling. You plan to write one scene of a play telling Emma’s, Rebbecca´s and David´s story.
3. Discuss the following topics before you start writing:
  • Who are the actors in your play?
  • Should Emma contact safekeepers of research integrity (such as an ombudsperson, a data management officer in research, or a research ethics committee)?
  • Which research policies exist in your region and can be used in the play? Are there institutional regulations your actors can refer to? Or national regulations? What about European regulations? Search for relevant documents and refer to them.
Your scene should include a dialogue about good research. By putting honesty, respect, reliability and accountability first, your actors should emerge from the conflict and stand up for research integrity.
4. Write your scene in 15 to 25 sentences.
5. Submit your scene in the forum below (subject: Scene_GroupName).
